Calcif

The University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano), established in 1924, is a public multidisciplinary teaching and research-intensive institution. The University of Milan is the top Italian university in most international rankings and is the only Italian university that belongs to the League of European Research Universities (LERU). The University embraces 31 departments, 128 study programmes, 31 doctoral programmes, and several vocational study programmes. The University of Milan counts almost 64,000 students regularly enrolled, 2,164 tenured professors, and 134 visiting professors/scholars.

CALCIF – Centro d’Ateneo per la promozione della Lingua e della Cultura italiana “Chiara e Giuseppe Feltrinelli” (www.calcif.unimi.it) – is an institute dedicated to “the activation and development of activities aimed at the promotion and development of knowledge of Italian language and culture, also thanks to the involvement of external subjects, for both foreigners and Italians.” CALCIF organises activities both in the field of teaching Italian to speakers of other languages and in the field of promoting Italian language and culture abroad. Since June 2019 CALCIF has been part of the Italian Language and Culture Office for Foreigners “Chiara and Giuseppe Feltrinelli” of SLAM, the University Language Centre.

It offers a series of Italian language courses held by qualified lecturers, graduates of PROMOITALS, a first Master’s Degree for Italian or foreign graduates on “Teaching and promotion of Italian as a Second or Foreign Language (L2/FL)” which is now in its eleventh year of existence and aims to train teachers and professional figures operating in the teaching and promotion of Italian as a Second or Foreign Language (L2/FL).
